Das Narrenhaus

Henriette Hellstern is a big fan of thematic exhibitions. They stay focused and create an interesting and intense experience for the audience. Therefore, it is with great expectations that we look forward to the upcoming exhibition.

Henriette Hellstern is remarkably strong, dynamic and very personal in her expression and profile. She herself says: I think I became an expressionist, as working with real true emotions every day. It was a taboo in my childhood, but today I can tell the present, the incoming and the stories through this technique, says Henriette Hellstern, adding: precisely this, talking about things through art is important to me. I think we can meet across differences if we can communicate, and what's better than the art of making paintings on words we can't say?

Therefore, we look forward to the thematic exhibition Das Narrenhaus, which takes an affectionate starting point in the doctors' practice towards the patients at the Insanity Hospital in Viborg in 1877.

Das Narrenhaus is also the story of being an outsider and misunderstood individual. In Henriette Hellstern's childhood in East Jutland, artists also felt differently. The need for a psychologist was completely outlawed, and they looked down at those in the community who needed help. Something that the artist feelled on her own body as she went down with social phobia and then severe depression. The understanding of the outside world was missing.

The exhibition is therefore a two-part experience where one can choose one's focus in relation to a personal interest in either the professional side of psychiatry as it was 142 years ago, or as an insight into the artist’s challenges of life's vital issues.

Twelve artists from gallery NB exhibit 3 selected masterpieces and offer the summer guests in gallery NB a waou experience.

The summer is always characterized by the desire to go out and see, for example art, many other places than where you live. In this context, gallery NB finds it important also to open the gallery for those who want to travel to see art. And when they come to gallery NB, they should not be disappointed. Therefore, gallery NB focuses on creating a group exhibition that presents the best of many of the gallery's artists.

The artists of the Waou exhibition are characterized by being a mixture of Danish and foreign, upcoming and known international artists.
That is why the exhibition shows works of art with collector qualities of the following artists:

The exhibition opens Friday, June 21st at. 14-17, where several of the artists will be present at the opening.

June and August: Mon-Fri. 12-17 and Sundays kl. 12-16.
July: Mon-Fri 12-17, Saturday and Sunday closed.

As the first solo exhibition in the gallery NB the visual artist Nana Rosenørn Holland Bastrup (b. 1987) exhibits a number of new paintings with the common title Polykrome Disguises.

Two times before, Nana Rosenørn Holland Bastrup has exhibited in NBeX project, which is gallery NB's project room for new up-coming talents. Her first solo exhibition in gallery NB is therefore a recognition of her talent and a great artistic potential.

Nana Rosenørn Holland Bastrup is educated in Germany at the Hochschule für bildende Kunste in Hamburg. Then she moved to Berlin, where she continued the development of her personal expression, which materially involves photographing her crafted space transferred to sailcloth and worked as a painting. The complex process allows the necessary spaces for Nana Rosenørn Holland Bastrup to create the stories that are important to her to pass on to the audience.

Art writer and critic Trine Ross writes in the new book entitled Polykrome Forklædninger, among other things: Bastrup does not go away to incorporate references, neither to everyday life, art history nor her own works. For her, everything new is created based on something that already existed in the world.
