Flower Power at Galleri NB
– Nana RHB beautifully challenges nature and consumption
Nana RHB, Flower Power, 125 x 155 cm, 2025
On Saturday, January 18, Galleri NB opens its doors to artist Nana RHB’s solo exhibition, which breaks the boundaries of the classic floral motif and turns our perception of nature and consumption upside down. Flower Power is a tribute to vitality and renewal, but also a powerful commentary on our consumption and responsibility for the world we live in.
Chaos and harmony
In the solo exhibition Flower Power, Galleri NB presents a series of works by Nana RHB where cardboard boxes and flower bouquets merge into a tense dialogue between chaos and harmony. In the exhibited Overpaintings, Nana RHB reworks and overpaints photographs of cardboard installations and floral arrangements, printed on sailcloth. The result provides extremely interesting and at the same time beautiful dynamics in the experiences between installation and painting.
In these works, the boundaries between the industrial and the natural are blurred, and the visual elements come together in a new constellation. By transforming the cardboard box – a typical everyday object – into an artistic metaphor, Nana RHB challenges our understanding of sustainability, function, and value. The raw lines and geometric surfaces of the cardboard boxes meet the vibrant colors and organic shapes of the flower bouquets, exploring the relationship between consumption, recycling, and the circular processes of creation and decay found in both nature and human-made systems.
Flower Power
The title Flower Power refers to nature’s inherent strength and the transformative power of creativity. The flowers represent vitality and renewal, while the cardboard constructions reflect humanity's footprint and our responsibility towards nature. Inspired by the peace movement of the 1960s, Nana RHB brings a classic motif like the floral still life into a contemporary, socially critical context, where the desire for peace and preservation of nature takes center stage.
Experience Flower Power and step into a world where flowers can be much more than just flowers.
