Vilmantas Marcinkevičius (b. 1969, Kaunas, Lithuania) is one of the most significant living artists to emerge from the Baltic region. For more than three decades, he has developed a distinctive artistic language centered on the human condition, identity, and existential questions.
Since the late 1990s, Marcinkevičius has maintained a close connection with Denmark, where his works have been widely exhibited and acquired by both private and public collections. Today, he lives and works between Vilnius, Denmark, and Southern Italy, where he has established both his studio and residence in the historic town of Galatina.
Internationally, Marcinkevičius is recognized for his figurative and expressive paintings, monumental compositions, and distinctive use of color. His works move between the personal and the universal, exploring human strength and vulnerability, freedom and longing. Regardless of subject matter, the human figure remains at the center of his artistic universe.
Today, Vilmantas Marcinkevičius is widely regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary Northern European figurative expressionism.
