Sabine Beyerle (b. 1975) was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin and has worked as an artist in Berlin since 2004, where she currently has her studio.

The Forest Inside explores both the forest we can physically walk through and the “inner forest” — the emotions, moods, and thoughts that nature can awaken within us. Beyerle’s work focuses on the connection between what we see and what we experience internally when we are in nature.
The paintings are based on photographs taken by the artist during travels in Patagonia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and various places in Europe, including German forests. Although the works originate from real locations, they are not painted as exact representations. Instead, Beyerle transforms the landscapes into atmospheric images that express how nature can be felt.
In her work, she particularly investigates the structure of the forest: how trees, plants, and light form layers; how some areas can appear dense and dark, while others are light and open. Her use of color and surface emphasizes how the viewer’s gaze moves through the forest — and how the forest simultaneously evokes inner images and sensations.
Beyerle is also concerned with the forest’s life cycle: growth, decay, and renewal. This theme gives the paintings a temporal dimension, reminding us that nature is constantly changing. Visible brushstrokes and richly detailed surfaces create an intense atmosphere in which the forest appears both real and dreamlike at the same time.
The Forest Inside presents nature as a place where we experience both the world around us — and our own inner world.
