Amalie Munkgaard Olesen was born in 1989 and grew up in Viborg.
In 2016, she graduated as a playwright from the Danish School of Performing Arts and had her debut at Aarhus Theater the same year. Since then, her plays have been staged in Denmark, Norway and Iceland.
The visual artist
Alongside the drama, Olesen creates drawings on old book covers. Here the pen gets free play, most often in abstractions over the female body. Both in her drawings and dramas there is a love for the classics, which draws threads to both Greek myths and Paris in the 30s.
Amalie Munkgaard Olesen is the daughter of artist Karin Olesen, and has exhibited with her both in Paris and at Pakhuset in Viborg.
