Peter Neuchs (born in 1958 in Denmark) practices a wide variety of visual arts : installation, sculpture, drawing, photo and engraving. His work, characterized by surfaces filled “all-over”, is excessively stuffed with details, sensations, and feelings. Recalling the Baroque aspiration to unite terrestrial and celestial, visible and invisible – encompassing the temporal, the perishable and what pertains to eternity. The memento mori, a notion dear to Peter Neuchs, lies at the heart of his work : through a play on perception his blurry images interrogate our reality, our relation to matter, our existence as matter.
The artist lives in Rio de Janeiro and exhibits regularly in Brazil and Europe.
