Pausing at the blind spots:
A Dutch writer I worked with came up with that sentence ones, when we were making a text together for a project I did in France.
For me that describes perfectly what I try to do: Stopping the moment in my drawings, trying to look to the landscape and formulate a new position.
One that lies behind what we can discover at a fleeting glance, and hopefully find something that can help us towards a better understanding and coexisting
Kunstneren fortæller: De sidste 8 år har jeg kun arbejdet med farveblyanter. Den bedste ved at tegne med blyant er umiddelbarheden. Du får et stykke papir i hånden, og du er klar til at begynde. Materialet føles lyst, både bogstaveligt og billedligt, men samtidig giver det mulighed for at arbejde på en meget lagdelt og detaljeret måde.
I mit arbejde undersøger jeg den problematiske sammenhæng mellem begreberne 'natur' og 'kultur'….. Jeg tror, at nutidens holdning til begrebet 'natur' er forholdsvis ny, og er baseret på en romantisk forestilling. Naturen ses som noget rent, som du kan lide at være i, men du er altid er dømt til at stå udenfor. Jeg finder denne holdning problematisk. Ved at placere et menneske uden for naturen, giver du mennesket rollen som skaberen af det. Dette medfører en blindhed i forhold til vores egen placering inden for de mange komplekse økosystemer, som menneskeheden er en del af, herunder de seneste klimaproblemer som et af de ekstreme resultater.
