AC Group – painting

A monumental painting for AC Group’s canteen

At AC Group in Viborg, art has become a visible part of employees’ daily lives. The company’s canteen is home to the monumental painting Junkyard by Danish artist Steen Larsen – positioned so that up to 280 employees pass by and experience the work each day.

Art as part of the working day

The canteen is a central gathering place within the company. Employees from across departments meet here, giving the large painting a prominent presence in a space used by many every day.

With its impressive scale and powerful visual impact, the work transforms the experience of the room. It can be appreciated both from a distance and up close, where its many details become more apparent. The installation demonstrates how art in the workplace can offer more than decoration: it can create a sense of identity, spark curiosity and give employees and visitors a shared experience.

From selecting the artist to installing the work

Galleri NB facilitated the collaboration with Steen Larsen and supported AC Group throughout the process – from selecting the artist and the work to its final placement and installation. The painting was a gift from Group CEO Claus A. Christensen to himself and the company’s 270 employees to mark his 60th birthday.

The video about the project offers further insight into the process, the thinking behind the choice and the introduction of the work at AC Group.
